I. Background

R4D International is a research foundation working in close collaboration with institutions in developing countries to promote the implementation of evidence-based practices in health and development. In particular, R4D International supports the achievement of MDGs at local level by engaging in research and interventions related to reduction of hunger and malnutrition (MDG1), girl child education (MDG2), economic empowerment of women (MDG3), child and maternal health (MDG 4&5), HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB (MDG6), sustainable environment (MDG7), information communication technology (ICT) (MDG8).

Position: Administration and Finance Manager

Type of Contract: 12 months renewable.

II. Terms of reference

Under the supervision of the Country Director, the incumbent will provide administrative and financial management guidance as well as ensure general co-ordination and supervision of the planning, preparation, monitoring, review, clearance, and control of administration financial operations and projects accounts.

1. Duties and responsabilities:

  • providing and interpreting financial information;
  • monitoring and interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends;
  • analysing change and advising accordingly;
  • formulating strategic and long-term business plans;
  • researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance;
  • developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk;
  • conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities;
  • managing the organisation's financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems;
  • liaising with auditors to ensure annual monitoring is carried out;
  • developing external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g. auditors, solicitors, bankers and statutory organisations;
  • producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines;
  • managing budgets;
  • arranging new sources of finance for the organisation;
  • supervising staff;
  • keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation;
  • coordinate the administrative & financial monitoring and reporting on programme implementation;
  • Perform other duties as required.

2. Qualifications:

  • University degree or higher diploma in business administration, accounting or banking and finance. At least 5 years of experience in a similar position.

3. Additional requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of English, working knowledge of French. Good computer skills. Knowledge of accounting software and OHADA accounting system will be an asset.
