The World Bank Country Office in Yaounde, Cameroon seeks to hire an Information Technology (IT) Assistant to fill an entry-level Information and Technology Client Services role. This position is designed as a term learning opportunity for recent students who have graduated from university with Bachelor's degrees or higher, in an IT related field, but have limited or no work experience. The IT services team of the World Bank's Africa Region offers this opportunity in order to contribute towards building strong local capacity for IT client support services.
The term of the position is expected to be one to two years with no renewal.
Roles and Responsibilities:
This is an opportunity for a junior professional to work for the IT services unit of the World Bank Country Office prior to continuing studies or pursuing other employment opportunities. The primary responsibility of the IT Assistant will be to provide IT client services to staff and visiting missions of the country office. Services will include support for the following IT activities; helpdesk, software configuration, hardware repairs, training, conferencing tools, mobile devices, PCs and inventory management- The role of network administration is limited and there is not expected to be any software development rote.
This position is assigned to an IT unit providing IT client services to the Africa Region of the World Bank staff. This is a local position based in the country office; no travel is anticipated and works closely with other IT staff and the Administration unit of the country office in areas of procurement, maintenance contracts and other vendor activities.

In addition to the competencies, the successful candidate should possess a four year university degree, Bachelor's or equivalent, in the study of Information Technology, Computer Science or a related area; strong level of comfort with and Interest in consumer information technologies, devices, services and apps; Expresses thoughts and ideas effectively in oral and written communications in English; Ability to apply problem solving strategies to evaluate and solve problems effectively; and ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a virtual team environment.
