JOB DESCRIPTION

DUTY STATION: UNICEF Yaoundé

Type of contract: TA Appointment

Section/Division: Operations/Finance Unit

Title: Accounting/Finance Assistant

Level: GS4

Duration: 12 Months

As per UNICEF rules and regulations

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Under close supervision, performs a range of standardized accounting clerical duties.

REPORTS TO : Finance Officer

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES and DUTIES & TASKS

Proceed to the calculation of travel claim within 15 days, after a checking of the related supporting documents to determinate the amount due or to be refund by the staff member.

Record Overtimes and other salary deductions such as problems deductions, Local Staff Association deduction, etc.

Assist the Finance Officer to fulfill monthly closure activities, specifically the analysis of account payables, staff PAR, GRIR and DCT open times.

Assist the Finance Officer, in the preparation of Cash Forecast on a quarterly and monthly basis to ensure the availability of funds for the different program sections.

Ensure the back up of Accounting Assistant in case of absence.

Performs other duties, as required.

QUALIFICATION and COMPETENCIES

Education

Completion of an HND or Bachelor degree in Finance and Accounting. Ability to operate calculator or other machines used to maintain accounts.

Work experience

Four year general clerical experience, some of which should be in accounting clerical work.

Experience in an international organization desirable.

Languages: Fluency in French and good working knowledge of English are required.
