VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Background

UNIDO has been requested by the Government of Cameroon to design a master plan for a Technological Agro-Industrial Park(TAIP) in Cameroon. The location of the site has been identified by the Government and will cover an area of 300 ha. TAIP will produce and export products of second and third level of processing through the use of transmission technologies.

Duty Station: Yaoundé, Camerooon;

Starting date: 01/05/2016

Duration: 4 Months

Duties: Under the supervision of the Project Manager and the National Coordinator, the National Environmental Engineer will carry out the following duties:

Main duties.

  • In collaboration with the contractor, the expert shall take part in all the below mentioned duties:
  • Integrate environmental and social considerations in all the stages to elaborate TAIP
  • Work on data collection and analysis on environmental and social impact of the zone including primary habitat and historical human activity
  • Pilot the drafting of the terms of reference of the strategic environmental and social impact assessment in conformity with the regulations in force
  • Identify and assess activities that could impact the existing environmental and social conditions of the project area and propose corrective measures
  • Develop a detailed environmental and social monitoring plan to monitor key elements of both the biophysical and human environments
  • Identify and establish environmental international, national and regional policies, guidelines, laws and regulations in Cameroon dealing with TAIP
  • Carry out public consultations with stakeholders in the project area
  • Estalish an environmental and social management plan for the Agro Industrial TAIP
  • Propose a program for routine environmental inspection and waste treatment operations for the TAIP
  • Pilot the submission of the strategic environmental and social impact assessment to the ministry in-charge of environment
  • Produce final report.

  • Activities that could impact environmental and social conditions of the zone identified and corrective measures proposed
  • A plan for an effective environmental and social monitoring of key biophysical and human environment is developed
  • Adverse environmental measures to the TAIP's activities are identified and a control plan is put in place
  • Regulatory and administrative framework is described
  • Public consultations carried out
  • Environmental and Social Management Plan established
  • A plan for routine inspection and waste management is proposed
  • Strategic environmental and social impact assessment submitted
  • Final report produced

Qualification: Master degree or equivalent in environmental sciences, with 6 years experience in the procedure of realizing environmental and social impact assessment

Language: Excellent written and spoken English and French. Have good communication skills and be able to work in a group.
