The U.S. Mission in Yaounde, Cameroon is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Welder. This position is located in Yaounde, Cameroon.

CLOSING DATE: August 16, 2016 at 16:00

WORK HOURS: Full time, 40 hours/week

SALARY: Ordinarily Resident (OR): FSN-04

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent welds and does metal work. Duties include: making security grills, doors, windows and air conditioner grills; repairing and maintaining metal doors, installing security locks and bolts on metal doors; constructing water tanks; providing general repairs on official cars; constructing special safe havens; building antennas, exhaust pipes on generators; constructing security perimeter fences with wire mish and razor wire; and repairing and welding water storage tank.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities for Welder:

A. 95% of Time

Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler. Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment Cuts work piece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.

B. 5% of Time

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.

EDUCATION: Completion of Elementary School or equivalent diploma is required.

EXPERIENCE: Two years of journeyman welder experience in a large local institution or international organization is required.

LANGUAGE: Level II (Basic Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing of English and French is required. (This will be tested.)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The incumbent should be able to use all tools of the trade. (This will be tested.)

JOB KNOWLEDGE: The incumbent must have full journeyman mechanic knowledge of established practices and procedures in welding.
