The U.S. Mission in Yaounde, Cameroon is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Driver/Expediter. This position is located in Yaounde, Cameroon.

CLOSING DATE: November 10, 2016 at 16:00

WORK HOURS: Full time, 45 hours/week

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION

Under the direct supervision of the Motor Pool Supervisor, incumbent serves as Driver/Expediter for the Motor Pool Section of the General Services Office. Duties include: driving assigned vehicle (passenger car, station wagon, and water truck) within the city or vicinity and, occasionally on long trips; keeping assigned vehicle clean and in a presentable condition at all time; keeping track of vehicle operation records; serving as expeditor for the Mission - meet and greet official travelers upon arrival at the Nsimalen International Airport.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities for Driver/Expeditor:

A. 60% of Time

Drives any assigned post vehicle (passenger car, station wagon, and water truck) within the city or vicinity and, occasionally on long trips. Receives daily assignments from the dispatcher and the Motor Pool Supervisor ; as well as, verbal instructions from the GSO. Handles the filled trip ticket or point to point ticket to the Dispatcher upon return from assignment. Keeps assigned vehicle clean and in a presentable condition at all time. Reports any requirements or abnormalities to the Motor Pool Supervisor and adhere to the Motor Pool procedures.

B. 25% of Time

Serves as expeditor for the Mission. Meets and greets USG travelers upon arrival at Nsimalen International Airport as well as TDYrs. Assists travelers when departing for TDY or leaving Post and make sure all Airport processes are completed before return back to the office.

C. 10% of Time

If assigned for long trips, follows up the e2 solution until completion of the process. Ensures approval of all extra expenses in cash (vehicle repairs, fuel expenses, etc) by the Motor Pool Supervisor before submitting through the system. Keeps vehicle ready for operation. Reports other needed repairs to the Dispatcher and the Motor Pool Supervisor.

D.Other duties as assigned – 5% of Time

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.

Education: GCE “O” level or BEPC or equivalent diploma is required.

Experience: At least two years driving experience for an international organization or a large local institution is required.

Language: Level II (Limited Knowledge) Speaking/Reading English and French are required. (This will be tested.)

Skills And Abilities: Incumbent must be able to pass the pre-employment eye examination; must be able to understand oral and written instructions in English and French; and must possess a valid driver's license (B-C-D). (This will be tested.)

Job Knowledge: Applicant must know Cameroonian traffic laws and have a good knowledge of the main cities' streets; must be able to make minor repairs on vehicles; and must be a computer literate in Microsoft Word and be able to use other software programs pertaining to this position.
