Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives: Call for proposals

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) is a program designed to fund small-scale bilateral projects in Official Development Assistance (ODA) eligible countries, which align with Global Affairs Canada's thematic priority areas for engagement. The program is directed at projects conceived and designed by non-governmental organization

Projects are selected and approved by the relevant Canadian Embassy or High Commission. The CFLI also serves to support positive bilateral relations between Canada, recipient countries and their respective civil societies by deepening contacts and supporting local endeavours.

The Canadian High Commission is pleased to launch a call for proposals for the 2017-2018 financial year for the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).

The CFLI provides partial financial aid to organizations in Cameroon and in the Central African Republic for projects under at least one of the two priorities areas indicated below:

  • Promoting human rights;
  • Promoting gender equality and empowerment of women and girls

Successful projects must be implemented between September 2017 and mid-February 2018. The fund's financial allocation per project may not exceed CAD 25 000$ (approximately 11,000,000 FCFA at the May 2017 exchange rate).

Candidates must:

  • Demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of activity;
  • Show proof of experience working in the project region, or presence in the region of project activity;
  • Not have been financed by the CFLI in both 2015-2016 and 2016-2017.

Proposals may be submitted through either of the following address: yunde@international.gc.ca using the official proposal form available upon request. The deadline for the submission of project proposals is June 7, 2017 at 5:00 PM. Proposals may also be submitted in hardcopy to the Canadian High Commission at “Les Colonnades” building (New Bastos neighborhood), Yaoundé, using the attached application form.

Organizations with short-listed projects will be contacted directly either by telephone or by email by 15 August 2017.
