High Point University is offering presidential scholarship program to recognize and encourage entering freshmen. Presidential Scholarship program is scheduled for February 2016 and supports several levels of fellowships and scholarships as: presidential fellowships ($9,000 – $20,000), High Point fellowships ($6,000 – $9,000) and High Point scholarships ($2,000-$5,000). The application deadline is November 2, 2015 and February 1, 2016.

Eligibility:

  • Presidential Fellowships: The average SAT score of past Presidential Fellowship recipients is 1326 (critical reading & math sections). The average ACT score of past Presidential Fellowship recipients is 29 (composite score). The average GPA of past recipients is 3.9 (unweighted), and these students graduated in the top 10% of their class. These are not the only factors that determine scholarship awards and the quality of each year's scholarship applicant pool may change these averages.
  • High Point Fellowships: The average SAT score of past High Point Fellowship recipients is 1185 (critical reading & math sections). The average ACT score of past High Point Fellowship recipients is 26 (composite score). The average GPA of past recipients is 3.56 (unweighted).
  • High Point Fellowships: The average SAT score of past High Point Scholarship recipients is 1100 (critical reading & math sections). The average ACT score of past High Point Scholarship recipients is 23-24 (composite score). The average GPA of past recipients is 3.25 (unweighted).

Scholarship Open for International Students: US and International students are eligible for this presidential scholarship program.

Scholarship Description: The Presidential Scholarship Program at High Point University was inaugurated in 1976 in order to recognize and encourage entering freshmen who, during their high school careers, demonstrated outstanding achievement, good citizenship, strong leadership and exceptional scholarship. The 2016 Presidential Scholarship program is scheduled for February 2016 and will allow invited, admitted students to add their initial scholarship to equal the ranges. The Presidential Scholarship Program supports several levels of fellowships and scholarships, including the following:

  • Presidential Fellowships: Presidential Fellowships ($9,000 – $20,000) are awarded annually to qualified freshmen. Because the Presidential Fellowship is renewable, provided the recipient maintains a predetermined grade-point average at HPU.
  • High Point Fellowships: High Point Fellowships ($6,000 – $9,000) are awarded annually to qualified freshmen. Because the High Point Fellowship is renewable, provided the recipient maintains a predetermined grade-point average at HPU.
  • High Point Scholarships: High Point Scholarships ($2,000-$5,000) are awarded annually to qualified freshmen. Because the High Point Scholarship is renewable, provided the recipient maintains a predetermined grade-point average at HPU.

What does it cover?

  • The total value of the Presidential Fellowship is $36,000 to $60,000. In addition to the Presidential Fellowship, recipients receive a $1,000 stipend to be used toward a May-term study abroad program. In addition to the Presidential Fellowship, recipients receive a $1,000 stipend to be used toward a May-term study abroad program.
  • The total value of the High Point Fellowship is $20,000 to $36,000. In addition to the High Point Fellowship, recipients will receive a $500 stipend to be used toward a May-term study abroad program. Selection Criteria: Merit-based scholarships are granted through the Presidential Scholarship Program.
  • The total value of the High Point Scholarship is $8,000- $20,000. In addition to the High Point Scholarship, recipients will receive a $500 stipend to be used toward a May-term study abroad program.

Selection Criteria: High Point University seeks applicants who demonstrate exceptional scholarship, outstanding achievement, good citizenship and strong leadership.
