RECRUITMENT NOTICE OF: (01) Psychosocial Officer

Contract duration: CDD 03 (three) months

Reports to:

Project Manager

Missions and Responsibilities:

  • Build the capacity of the protection team in identification of cases of psychological distress
  • Conduct case-by-case needs assessments for the diagnosis of psychological disorders and devise appropriate intervention
  • Develop individual and group treatment plans and follow through the implementation: Provide group and individual counselling sessions, according to identified needs
  • Document progress on cases handling by psychosocial worker, maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent, and ensure that data protection protocols are respected
  • Facilitate internal trainings to protection staffs on the provision of basic counselling skills
  • Build the capacity of the protection team in identification of cases of psychological distress

  • Facilitate internal trainings to protection staffs on the provision of basic counselling skills
  • In collaboration with the Protection Officer, facilitate trainings for internal protection staffs and communities on psychological first aid (PFA)
  • Strengthen community based psychosocial support and peer support group activities
  • Work in close collaboration with technical staffs (GBV Specialist and Protection Officer) for the development of the project's overall PSS component
  • Provide coaching and support to the Psychosocial worker in the implementation of structured PSS activities
  • Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited to: - do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and need-to-know principles
  • Support Protection officer in developing and/or updating protection tools and training materials in order to meet projects requirements
  • Support Project Manager in developing required donor reports, providing relevant insights on mental health related issues
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationship with relevant partners and other project stakeholders working in the project areas
  • Proactively participate in relevant coordination meetings, as requested by the supervisor

Competences

  • Bachelor degree in Psychology
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, including at least one year in NGO
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, outlook)
  • Analytical and reporting skills

Languages

  • English and Pidgin

Duty station

  • Buea with sporadic trips to 5 project locations in NOSO region
