Applications are invited for PhD studentship associated with the Joint PhD degree between King’s College London and Humboldt University. This studentship is open to International Students. Research is offered in various departments in the Schools of Arts & Humanities, Natural & Mathematical Sciences, Social Sciences & Public Policy. Various eligible  academic departments are Geography, German, English, Philosophy, Mathematics, Culture, Media & Creative Industries. Applicant should surely make one of the  King’s College academic department as their home department. Applicants must going to start a full-time MPhil/PhD research degree programme during 2013/14.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must due to commence a full-time MPhil/PhD research degree programme during 2013/14; and make one of the eligible academic departments at King’s College London their home department – Geography, German, English, Philosophy, Mathematics, Culture, Media & Creative Industries
  • Students required to pay international tuition fees will be required to cover the difference between the home/EU and international fee level from alternative sources.

Scholarship Description: Applications for a PhD Studentship associated with the Joint PhD degree between King’s College London and Humboldt University is sought from students who intend to undertake research in various schools/departments. The KCL-Humboldt Joint PhD Studentship will cover tuition fees at home/EU level and provide an annual stipend for up to three years subject to satisfactory progress.Please note that students who are required to pay tuition fees at the overseas rate are eligible to apply but will be required to cover the difference between the home/EU and international fee level from alternative sources.All eligible applicants who, as of 17:00GMT on 1st February 2013, either (a) holds an offer of admission to the MPhil/PhD programme or (b) has submitted a complete application for admission which is still subject to review, can be considered for the Joint PhD Studentships as appropriate.There will be no separate application form for funding.

Number of awards offered: Two scholarships are offered.

Duration of award(s): Studentship will cover tuition fees at home/EU level and provide an annual stipend for up to three years subject to satisfactory progress.

What does it cover? The KCL-Humboldt Joint PhD Studentship will cover tuition fees at home/EU level and provide an annual stipend of approx £15,750 for 2013/14 plus Home/EU tuition fees, plus up to £1,000 a year in research expenses.

Notification: Decisions will be announced by the end of April 2013.

How to Apply: There will be no separate application form for funding. All eligible applicants who on 1st February 2013 either holds an offer of admission to the MPhil/PhD programme or has submitted a complete application for admission which is still subject to review, can be considered for the Joint PhD Studentships as appropriate.

Scholarship Application Deadline: As there is not any separate application form for funding so eligible departments will be asked to nominate up to two candidates each by the nomination deadline of 1st March 2013.
