Programme Development Advisor: Optometry

Sightsavers offices in the UK or overseas (dependent on the country location of the successful candidate)

Sightsavers has an exciting opportunity for a trained optometrist to provide technical leadership to the organisation in the areas of refractive errors, low vision and school health to ensure that the work we support is patient-centric, accessible to the poorest and of the highest quality.

A priority for this influential role will be to ensure that programme and partner staff have the necessary technical support and guidance to be able to effectively manage their responsibilities. The post-holder will be expected to develop and nurture positive and mutually beneficial partnerships with the private and not-for-profit sectors to help us achieve our organisational vision of achieving sustainable and accessible services.

The successful candidate will bring experience of working in developing country settings. Ideally, you will also bring experience and training in public health and a background of effective collaboration with government ministries and private and not-for-profit providers.

An effective communicator at all levels, you will need high-level analytical and leadership skills and experience in developing operational good practice guidance materials and resources. International travel of at least 12 weeks per year will be required.

This role could be located in our Haywards Heath office or in one of Sightsavers country or regional offices. If based in the UK the annual salary will be £46,000, if based overseas local terms and conditions will apply including the base salary.
