ownCloud, a highly dynamic young company, is seeking a Sales Engineer to oversee implementation and configuration of our product for customers. This person will work closely with customers and prospects across North America, will coordinate technical responses to proposals, and will manage implementations at large companies. Candidate must be highly motivated and be able to build strong relationships with customers, develop and size implementation proposals, coordinate technical resources remotely, and answer technical questions from the customer. Familiarity with corporate IT infrastructure, web applications, php, databases and n-tier architectures a necessity. Open source experience and knowledge of Linux a plus.
Candidate will be asked to:
- Meet existing and prospective customers face to face and on the phone
- Travel to customer locations, schedule and manage interactions, and provide status reports on delivery projects
- Respond to customer technical questions, configuration issues and other pre-sales activities as needed
- Rapidly understand customer needs and turn them into technical requirements, captured in a proposal
- Deliver proposals and manage the process of contracting with the customer with appropriate sales, legal and business support
- Coordinate global development resources, both internally and externally, to deliver the project
- Manage the technical aspects of any configuration or custom development work required to deliver a project
- Troubleshoot php and project deliverables as necessary
- Be highly motivated and self-driven to do the right thing for the customer and ensure delivery success and acceptance
Requirements:
- BA/BS or equivalent in related field
- Masters in computer science or equivalent preferred
- 5-10 years of experience with corporate IT, enterprise software, and project delivery
- Familiarity with open source software, open source business models
- Experience with user-management and directory services
- Experience with Linux, PHP and Databases
- Experience with high performance web-applications and Clusters
- Knowledge of ownCloud a significant plus
