An important organization of the electricity sector is in need of the services of:

AN ENERGY ECONOMIST

 

Job description

  • Collect and analyze all economic information relating to the electricity sector ;
  • Prepare and carry out economic and financial simulations at short, medium and long terms on the principal variables selected;
  • Collect and analyse all economic information for the electricity sector;
  • Monitor and manage the evolution of tariffs in relation to other specialists ;
  • Proceed with the analyses of current and future investments in the sector both at the local and sub-regional levels;
  • Anticipate their economic effects on the situation of the firms in this sector, and seek to establish a balance between security and profitability;
  • Analyze creation niches in industrial units as well as employment in the electricity sector;
  • Work with the other experts of the Agency in order to:

 

- Analyze, monitor and make recommendations on investment and operation plans submitted by enterprises in the electricity sector;

- Coordinate activities with financing organizations and experts in charge of project realizations;

- Ensure harmony and consistency in the approach and methods used in economic and financial diagnostics, the formulation and evaluation of business plans of the firms of the electricity sector;

  • Implement and follow up of a market or an electricity scholarship at the national and regional levels
  • Propose different optimal allocations of electric resource strategies using simulations based on demand and supply;
  • To implement the financial modeling techniques; the operational simulation for economic and financial databases to assess the financial regulation of the sector (business plans);  profitability; investment and rates proposed by operators in the sector;
  • Ensure that the other ad hoc tasks, in accordance with the work plans.

 

Candidate’s Profile

  • Be aged between twenty-five (25) years [at least] and forty (40)years [at most] by 31 December 2012
  • Be a holder of a Master’s degree  (A-level + 5years) in Economics and certified training in Econometrics ;
  • Be experienced in the domains of econometrics, energy management and financial analysis or financial and accounting audit;
  • At least 5 years professional experience;
  • Be experienced in financial and econometric modeling and have proven financial and economic modeling ability;
  • Good ability to work in team ;
  • Ability to work in a pressure situation and produce the expected results;
  • Be communicative, analytical and have a mastery of the computer processings; have an excellent oral and written expression in French and English;
  • Be available, rigorous and organized;
  • Committed to observe and respect the conflict prevention clause.

  • A certificate of presentation of the original of certificates or of the highest certificate
  • A certificate of non-conviction (dated not more than 3 months old)

The application files to be submitted at the IBC Cabinet, in non-identifiable closed envelopes should bear the inscription: “call to tender application for the position of an energy economist” or “call to tender application for the position of a financial analyst”
