Brief description:

The United Nations University International Institute for Software Technology (UNU-IIST) calls for applications for its 5 PhD programmes which start in September 2012 and January 2013.

Field(s) of study:

PhD programme in Information and Communication Technology for Sustainable Development with the following research topics:

•  PhD Scholarship in Analytical Models for Learning Processes in FLOSS Communities (currently open)
•  PhD Scholarship in Formal Modelling and Analysis of Ecosystems (currently closed)
•  PhD Scholarship in Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (currently closed)
•  PhD Scholarships in Software Engineering in Healthcare (currently closed)

 

Number of Scholarships:

One scholarship is available for each position except for Software Engineering in Healthcare which offers 2 scholarships

 

Target group:

The scholarships are open to all international students

 

Scholarship value/inclusions:

The duration of the study and the scholarship is 42 months, of which at least 6 months will be spent in Pisa, Italy.

Monthly stipend will be USD 1,000 during the stay in Macau and USD 1,500 during the stay in Pisa. Health insurance is provided free of charge. During the stay in Macau accommodation (except utility costs) is also provided free of charge.

 

Eligibility:

Candidates for the PhD positions must have been awarded a Master degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Software Engineering, Computer Science or other discipline with a large ICT component, with strong academic records.

Early 2013 Applications for PhD Scholarship in Analytical Models for Learning Processes in FLOSS Communities is now open. Applicants must have been awarded or should plan to be awarded the required Master degree no later than 7 December 2012.  Deadline for scholarship applications is 15 November 2012.
