2015 University games comes to an end: UDs clinches 1 more gold and silver medal

The last day of the competition witnessed the University of Dschang's participation in the final of the single female lawn tennis competition which saw Caroline Ngie earn a well-deserved goal medal and the male football team lost gallantly and obtained a silver wear against the University of Buea that won gold through penalty shoot outs(5-4).The games which commenced this morning by 9.30 am saw the University of Dschang who were dressed in white and blue jerseys with red shorts as opposed to the University of Buea who were in black and yellow .The game which was highly contested saw the UDs boys give in their best till the penalty shootouts which earned them second place. The third position was occupied by the University of Yaoundé II after beating the University of Yaoundé I. The Female football final during the closing ceremony was played between the higher institute of Youth and sports (INJS) against the University of Douala which ended in favour of The University of Douala from a lone goal in the first half.

The 18th edition of the University games came to a close on the last day. The games which was marked by excellence, creativity and talent saw different universities clinch trophies and medals to crown the end of the sporting competition. The closing ceremony that was witnessed by key government dignitaries was kick started with an inter-religious prayer session followed by the official kick off of the female football finals by the Minister of Higher Education, Prof Jacques FAME NDONGO alongside other members of government. During the half time of the game, an eye catching performance by the entire fans club added spice to the occasion. This was followed by the award of medals and trophies after the match ended in favour of the University of Douala.

In athletics INJS, both in the male and female category were crowned overall winners with best male and female player all coming from the higher institute of Youths and sports.

Basketball female category was won by INJS while the University of Yaoundé I was crowned champions in the Male category. INJS and the University of Buea won handball in the female and male category respectively. INJS and University of Yaoundé I won Volleyball in the female and male category respectively. In lawn tennis the University of Yaoundé I were crown champions in both male and female category. For table tennis male and female category 1st position was occupied by the University institute of the Gulf of Guinea ( IUG), while female and male wrestling was secured by the University of Douala and Yaoundé I respectively. The University of Douala secured first in the female category and Yaoundé I in the male in judo.

In paralympics, the University of Dschang was over all winner with 5 gold 4 silvers and 8 bronze medals with the best male and female athlete during the competition.

Football was won by the University of Buea, 2nd place UDs, 3rd place was occupied by the University of Yaoundé II, with best male and female player coming from University of Buea and Douala respectively.

The trophy for fair play was given to IUG and the University of Dschang occupied 5th position.Thematic animation by fans club was cliched by UBa 1st position 2nd UDs 3rd UY I

General classification ranks the University at 7th position behind Ngaoundere 6th, University of Yaoundé II 5th, IUG 4th, INJS 3rd, University of Douala 2nd and the University of Yaoundé I that won the overall trophy and occupied 1st position.
