Dschang-UDs/SIC – 12/11/14.The 30th session of the University Administrative Council meeting took place on the 10th of November 2014 at the Rectorate of the University of Dschang .This session was presided over for the first time by the chairman board of Directors, Prof Beban Sammy Chumbow. Speaking at the occasion, the board chairman, with nostalgia, reminded members of his service years as a Rector of the same institution from October 1998 to 2000 and lauded the positive evolution of the University over the years. He appreciated the level of institutional development by his predecessors and their team for maintaining and improving on what he had started.
Prof Chumbow praised the efforts of the Rector, Prof Anaclet Fomethe who manned and contributed immensely to the growth of the University. He added that his visit to the stand of the Institute of Fine Arts in Foumban during the Ngouon Festival was impressive as it showcased the ingenuity of the students of the University of Dschang. The Board Chairman expressed satisfaction at the position of the University nationally and internationally while encouraging management to remain steadfast in positioning the university among other State universities and on the ladder of academic excellence in Africa.
He reiterated the need for the University to be part of the political governance system by contributing to the wealth of education which would be of essence in the emergence of the nation. He cited the Faculty of Agronomy and Agricultural sciences and the role it plays at the forefront of state policies in agriculture of the second generation and admonished other faculties to follow suit. He exalted the former board director, late Senator Francis Nkwain's contribution to the university and his insatiable efforts in achieving academic excellence in the university during his tenure.
The Council meeting took note of the well-executed budget for 2013, and examined and adopted the management of the University Budget of 2014.Thus the council adopted minutes of the 29thadministrative council, and stated the execution and adoption of resolutions and recommendations of the administrative council of 7th February 2014. The administrative budget, additional budget and management account were examined by the council.
In memory of the departed of the university community a minute of silence was observed by members of the Council.
